Why won't these pounds go away?

How many of you out there have, at some point in your life, hoped that your excess weight would just magically disappear by just wishing it to be so?

I've spent the last 10 years with that idea and it's done me no service, what...so...ever!  And so I decided to create this blog as a way to hold myself accountable for my actions.  The 30 pounds I would very much like to loose will NOT evaporate like sweat from my body.  It will take - well, sweat - to make that goal reachable.

Every week I will charter my progress here.  Whether it's been a good action day or a not so good one I'll still post.  I will weigh myself every Wednesday morning...and only Wednesday mornings.

GOALS:
  • Lose 30lbs by March 1, 2012
  • Only drink soda ONE day a week
  • Pack my lunch twice a week
  • Bring healthy snacks to work
  • Cut back on artifical sweeteners
  • Exercise at least THREE times per week.

STARTING INFO:
Current weight - 170lbs
Age - 34
Height - 5'1"
% OF WEIGHT GOAL REACHED: 0

So here I go!  Any stories you have of what worked for you or what was a complete disaster would be most welcome.
