A rollercoaster ride

So...clearly I haven't updated my blog in a few weeks.  It's been quite a rollercoaster ride since my last post.

I lost .2 lbs, then gained 2 lbs.  I was frustrated, disappointed and annoyed but instead of taking to my writing I wallowed in self-pity.  I held it all in when I had a healthy outlet to vent to.  Part of my frustration was that I had been making some much needed health improvements.  I was walking a lot more, drinking plenty of water and eating salads with a vinagerette dressing.  But I still gained.  My clothes felt slightly better but I still was unhappy with how I looked.

But this week, this week I lost 3 lbs!!!!!! What did I do differently?  I walked 4 days of the week, said "no" to some of my favorite snacks and declined second helpings at dinner.  I felt more awake, more alert and getting up in the mornings was easier.  I rarely needed my alarm.

That's not to say I haven't stumbled.  Because believe me, I have!  The biggest issue that I have to address is my evening routine.  After sitting at a computer all day during work, except for when I walk, I go home and sit.  I go on my computer and do ancestry research, play games on a portable reader or watch TV.  I don't choose to exercise or have any activity that's strenuous in the least.

As I was drafting this post a friend of mine, who's become an inspiration to me, asked me to join her in a Rumba class.  Perfect timing!  I said "yes" and will start next week.

CURRENT WEIGHT: 171
PLUSES:  Drinking water, soda only one day a week, walked 4 days and watched portions
MINUSES:  Inactivity at night, no other exercise besides walking

All the best,
Kelly
